About Rosemount Rocks!

Background

Rosemount Rocks! was launched by Midstocket Matters community magazine in 2007 as a local schools-community project aimed at promoting the social, environmental and economic benefits of Christmas shopping locally in the Rosemount area of Aberdeen. Pupils from Skene Square school and Mile End school worked to create a promotional Christmas leaflet which was distributed throughout Aberdeen.

Rosemount Rocks! 2008

This year the project remains the same but the scope has widened to promote the benefits of shopping locally at any time of year. Both Skene Square and Mile End school pupils are once again taking part.

There are four key elements to Rosemount Rocks! 2008:

Design a Logo competition.

All children from Mile End and Skene Square schools are invited to design the official Rosemount Rocks! 2008 logo which will be used in all project promotional material.

Design a Leaflet.

Pupils have been asked to create an information leaflet on the theme: “The History of Shopping in Rosemount”.

Create editorial and images for Midstocket Matters community magazine.

Pupils will be given ownership of a section of the Midstocket Matters December issue where they can explore the social, environmental and economic benefits of shopping in Rosemount through words and images.

Create and manage the offical Rosemount Rocks! 2008 website.

Pupils will be responsible for creating and managing a website which records the project’s progress via a blog and showcases the various material created by both schools.
